What the job is about

This is your opportunity if you're passionate about fostering autonomy and building self-managed teams. Bring your expertise in software and proven track record in managing middle-large teams to play a pivotal role in Sofico’s success.

A team is being developed and expanded in Porto, with the help of a local partner. The team consists of 18, with various positions like Software Engineers, Testers, and DevOps Engineers.

Currently, team members are working for different teams within Sofico. You will help us transition towards a fully operational agile team. Your role as Team Manager is multi-faceted, involving team and work organization, people management, partner relations, and financial oversight.

This means you will:

  • Be responsible for ensuring a steady flow of work through effective backlog management.

  • Align the team's workload with the available resources based on input received.

  • Oversee team and office budget which includes invoice approval and managing timesheets.

  • Be involved with the selection, recruitment, and onboarding process.

  • Involved in all the practical aspects of managing the office, from infrastructure needs to creating a fun work atmosphere.  

  • Play a key role in the team's further skill and career development.

Your interest and skills

You are a people manager with a focus on autonomy, this means you encourage initiatives, unit members taking up responsibilities, and create an environment of self-managed teams.  

Your interpersonal skills will come in handy when building relationships with both customers and colleagues. You understand that every situation, colleague, and customer is different and needs a tailored approach.  

You plan long-term strategies but also make them concrete enough so that members have a clear view of where the team and organization are heading and their personal contributions.  

What else is expected:  

  • Experience or affinity with software implementation.

  • Experience in managing a middle-large to a large team.  

  • Fluent in both Portuguese and English 

  • Knowledge of the leasing/mobility sector is a plus.
