As a Test Automation Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to design, develop, implement, and maintain automated testing solutions for our software application ‘Miles’. It’s an ERP software for automotive finance, leasing, fleet, and mobility management. It’s an end-to-end solution encompassing front-, mid- and back-office functions that can be extensively customized to the customers’ needs through configuration.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Developers, Testers and Product Managers to understand project requirements and identify areas for test automation. You will create and execute automated test scripts, analyze test results, and report issues to ensure the delivery of high-quality software products. Our ideal candidate should possess a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills and a deep understanding of software testing principles and methodologies.
You’re also in charge of identifying test automation opportunities, as well as developing an automation test strategy. Besides that, you will design, develop and maintain test frameworks and scripts using industry-standard tools and programming languages, as well as develop and maintain automated test scripts for both UI and non-UI testing, ensuring thorough coverage of test cases.
You will execute automated test suites to validate software functionality, performance and reliability, and identify, analyze, and report software defects and work closely with the development team to ensure their resolution.
Your day-to-day activities include:
Performing root cause analysis of test failures and implement corrective actions.
Continuously enhancing and optimizing automated scripts and frameworks to improve efficiency and coverage.
Developing and maintaining automation documentation.
Participating in code reviews to ensure the quality and maintainability of test automation code.
As a Test Automation Engineer, it is also your responsibility to collaborate with the QA team to define and implement quality assurance processes and best practices. You should stay updates with emerging trends, technologies and methodologies in test automations and advocate for their adoption when appropriate.
Your interests and skills
Next to that, you have a solid understanding of software testing principles, methodologies, and best practices. You need to be able to write and execute test cases and test scripts. In this role, you also need to be familiar with Agile/Scrum development methodologies and issue tracking tools, and have experience with Git and Github.
Besides that, you must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues. This comes hand in hand with excellent communication (both oral and written in English) and collaborations skills to work effectively within a team.
What else is expected:
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Proven work experience as an Automation Engineer or in a similar role.
Experience with continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines and related tools like GitHub Actions.
Knowledge of performance testing tools and techniques, containerization technologies like Docker and API testing with tools like Postman or SoapUI.
Familiarity with security testing concepts and tools and cloud-based testing platforms, such as AWS Device Farm or Sauce Labs.
