What the job is about
As a UX/UI Designer and Researcher, you help make software products that are desirable for customers and end users. You will help Sofico transition from a project based company to a user-centered company. This comes with its specific challenges but you have a lot of freedom to help shape this journey. It’s not all on you: you join a UX team of 5 people and will get mentoring and guidance.
Within the UX team the focus lays on increasing the design thinking and human/user centered design capabilities within Sofico. Besides that you will also be part of a Product team, in which you advocate for the design thinking method and contribute to the product vision.
Your main responsibilities within the product team are to conduct user research/experiments, analyze input and translating them into insights and ultimately a desirable product.
On top of that you will also:
- Find problems worth solving and designing solutions for it through user interviews, jobs-to-be-done, persona building and experiment setup.
- Help product managers prioritize the backlog, inspect metrics of products in production and suggest customer experience or design improvements.
- Work on customer journeys, interaction design, prototyping, copywriting and usability testing.
- Customer, user and stakeholder management (internal and external) related to research. Communicate and argument the impact of your design work to stakeholders.
In the UX team, we expect you to:
- Improve the design system together with the team
- Contribute to the way of working by evaluating UX tools, improve processes, etc.
- Build web components that other teams use.
Your Interest and skills
For a UX/UI designer and researcher, having a keen attention to accessibility and usability is crucial. Interfaces need to be visually appealing and also easy to use at the same time.
You’ll often need to justify your decisions to stakeholders, balancing user needs with business goals. Effectively communicating the rationale behind your designs to build trust and fosters alignment across teams.
By grounding design decisions in data and insights from user research, you can create solutions that truly address user pain points and enhance the overall user experience.
- At least 3 years of expertise designing products within a software development context where UI/UX is central.
- Experience with user research, experience design or user interface design.
- Knowledge or experience with design systems.
- Fluent in Dutch and English, any other language is a plus.
- Knowledge of Figma.
- Notion of Scrum / Kanban methodology.
- Some willingness to travel ( 1-2 times per year).
